As a young girl growing up, I would frequent the cosmetic counters in downtown Boston to watch the makeup artist at work. Their techniques and color combinations intrigued my artistic side.
Following high school, I attended college and studied business. After several years, I still found myself being drawn to cosmetics and decided to switch my efforts from business to the cosmetic industry. I packed my bags, left Boston, and moved to Florida to attend the Joe Blasco Makeup Center East in Orlando.
At Joe Blasco I had intense training in beauty, bridal, fashion, body painting, and special effects makeup for stage and screen. Preceding my graduation from Joe Blasco, I worked in the cosmetic industry for various cosmetic companies. As time progressed and trying various cosmetics, I decided to branch out and formulate my own brand of cosmetics focusing on what I was looking for in my makeup kit. I am now cofounder and artistic director of Luxx Cosmetics.

So, I have always been the type of person who encourages people to live their life to the fullest, and to do what makes you happy. Somehow I never quite took the time to take my own advice. Now, realizing how short life really is, I have finally made the decision to become a Professional Beauty Artist this will include holding a license as a Skin Care Specialist/Nail Technician. I want to be able to do it all!!!
Confession: Looking at so many of the popular blogs on the net is somewhat intimidating. Many of these bloggers seem so young and extremely talented. Part of me wonders, can I even compete, but then I realize it’s not about competition, it’s about learning from others and sharing knowledge and experiences. Plus I feel 21 at heart although I am 35 and holding!
In any case, I feel I represent the everyday woman: a mom, a lover, a sister, a friend, etc. A woman who is super busy with life, but, who loves to look her best! Who’s trendy, and who’s always looking for a red carpet moment at the grocery store…LOL!!!
Nails and Makeup have always been an important part of my life. Not because it helps to cover up flaws, but, if done correctly, it enhances natural features and brings out the beauty from within. I remember playing in my mother’s Clinique collection, getting into her polishes, using her Estee Lauder mascara, and applying her many shades of lipstick and putting kisses along the bottom of my mirror in my room as a reminder of how it made me feel to wear lipstick. One word, glamorous. To my sister’s, that one word would have been, vain. They don’t think that now…I asked…LOL!
Anyway, the point is, I have been into learning beauty for as long as I can remember, practicing and studying for hours on how to properly paint nails and apply makeup for women of all ages and races, in various settings. I’ve tried outlets like Mary Kay, BeautiControl, and others, but realized for me, it was more about sales rather than the art and application of the product itself. To me, this is an artistic mode of expression and all about how it makes you feel.
So now starts my dreams and the pursuit to become successful. I have been told I have a lot of talent, but, in order to be taken seriously, and in order to sharpen my skills, I have to get my license, so, that is exactly what I have done, and here starts the journey!
